ASSOCIATION PROFILE:

Formed in 2002, the mandate of the BCASI is to train and certify surfing instructors and coaches and to ensure that a standard of safe and efficient surf instruction is maintained. The Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the training of surf instructors for the Canadian surf industry. The BCASI welcomes new membership now as surfing’s popularity is growing rapidly as the industry expands.

The BCASI is the governing body for surfing instruction in British Columbia. The BCASI’s aim is to promote, encourage, and develop the sport of surfing in B.C.

MISSION STATEMENT:

To promote the surfing industry in B.C. by developing standards for safety through training and developing programs for surf instructors and implementing a certification process.

GOALS:

To provide training, education, and certification for British Columbia’s surf instructors.
To promote awareness of ocean hazards and safety to the general public.
To maintain high standardization criteria.
To provide facilities for training and education.
To provide employment for Canadians as Instructors of Surf Training to provide training, education, and certification for B.C. Surf Instructors.
